When Will the Decision Be Made?
After your hearing has finished, NTCAT will decide your case.
Under Section 105 of the Act:
- NTCAT must give its decision within 28 days after the hearing has ended, or
-
If the Tribunal allows extra written submissions after the hearing, then the decision must be made within 28 days of receiving the last submission.
This means:
If there are no extra written submissions or additional hearings, expect a decision within 4 weeks of your hearing.
If you were asked to provide more information in writing after the hearing, the 28 days starts from when NTCAT receives that final information.
How Will You Get the Decision?
You will get the decision in writing, sent to you by email or post.
Sometimes NTCAT gives a decision straight after the hearing. In that case, they may still send you a written version afterwards.
Can There Be Delays?
NTCAT tries to stick to the 28-day timeframe. In rare cases, delays may occur due to complexity or unexpected issues. If that happens, NTCAT will notify you.
